About mathushaa
Mathushaa has worked with various commercial clients, however beyond her professionalism, she unfold important narratives that inspire progressive change within various cultural and creative communities to elevate stories of lived experiences and history that draw the viewer into a world of emotions, authenticity and representation.
Authenticity and representation are important to her because of her parents’ upbringing and experiences during the Sri Lankan civil war, which took place from 1983 until now. The history of the war, their own personal suffering and experience led Mathushaa to share many untold stories. Portraying her subjects authentically through recent series' Not Just Brown, Not Just Indian, having showcase this project in various publications, billboards and solo shows.
She has been featured in publications such as Creative Lives, Glass Magazine, The Photographer's Gallery, gal-dem, Hypebae, Hypebeast, It's Nice That and The British Library. And in exhibitions such as Tate Britain, Rankin x Maryland Studio, Royal Greenwich Museums including billboards across the UK as well as a solo show with Bow Arts.
