About EMILY
Emz grew up on a farm in Wiltshire, Southwest England, and was deeply inspired by the natural world. In school, she excelled as the art prefect, creating groundbreaking sculpture and installations with her art teachers.
Emz pursued a successful career in the City and later in TV, working on 7 productions with David Attenborough. In 2017, after the birth of her daughter, Emz rekindled her passion for painting. She completed a foundation at the London Fine Art Studios and received a scholarship to the Creative Visionary Programme in 2019.
Her sellout open house in the same year led to her 2020 lockdown project, #GreenLondon, celebrating the green spaces in London. Her paintings from this series will be displayed at the David Lloyd gym at Raynes Park from April 2021.
Throughout 2020, Emz also fulfilled numerous commissions, creating landscapes as gifts for people who couldn't visit these places due to lockdown. Since March 2021, Emz has been cultivating a forest of trees in memory of the three babies she lost during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her goal is to use this work to raise awareness about mental health and miscarriage, while emphasizing the healing power of nature.
Emz conducts workshops for both adults and children, focusing on using drawing as a form of meditation to alleviate anxiety and difficult times. Her latest series, "Space: between being mum and being me," aims to carve out space in her busy life as a mother of two young children. These contemporary oil paintings, with calming blue and green tones, serve as ongoing therapy to support her mental health, providing a sense of peace and security.
Emily is surrounded by her art in a white studio. She wears a white shirt over a black tee with cream trousers as she paints a blue sky onto one of her canvases. Her hair is dark and tied back.
